    Tanti the Monk

Tanti the young monk looks bemused at his own image on the screen of a digital camera..This image was shot in Luang Prabang in the Northern Highlands of Laos last year..
I use to meet Tanti at his temple across the street from my guest house at around 4.00pm after he returned from English classes to help him with his homework..

I could be wrong but I swear I saw a picture similar to this elsewhere. Anyway It's a great shot because the idea is top notch.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

LOL! This is the first time I have seen this one. Very funny! It looks like he's looking at his own camera, and gets the "tradition vs. modern" dynamic going. Very nice!

My nitpicks are: the red flowers behind him; there seems to be a "grain" to the image that is a little distracting. Not sure if that's due to the iso 400 setting or not.

    Very funny!

Great shot Jurgen! I prefer this one to your previous monk one. This one has a great facial expression and as Rick pointed out, the modern/tradition underlying theme is great also. I think I would have preferred a vertical shot, just to include more of the monk and the full camera strap, but I think you did well as is.

    Good job!
