Great processing and enough goodies to keep the viewer looking. The billboard, AC units, the gutter wrapping around the building and the tanks at the top all work to make a very nice image. The iceing on the cake would have been a couple setting at the chairs but well done here.

It has a surreal feeling to me..Love your treatment on the buildings. The table doesn't exactly jump out at you. The lighted windows bring a nice tone as well as the sign. The water towers add an interest. And the angles of the buildings are interesting.

..beat me greg, great minds think.

    Re: Table for Two, Brooklyn.

Why did he call it table for two? OH! There it is.
That's what I like about the shot. I tend to look for what the title tells me to look for and since it wasn't immediatly apparent it got my eyes moving. That the table and chairs are in a little bright spot sort of near the lower corner brings them out fast enough but not so fast that the rest of the photo isn't appreciated.
    Good eye...good catch.

Great one Gary. The triangle formed by the main foreground buildings sits real well with the little triangular balcony, highlighted by it's great white floor and walls.. Lots of geometry elsewhere too with the window shapes and the lines on the walls of the buildings. It's all nicely closed off by the background building. The treatment of the lighted offices adds a great touch.
What I really like here is the total empty, lonely feel that you get in the business areas of cities, when all the workers have gone home, while the only sign of human habitation is, in this case, the little table.

I know this place I think--is it visable from the Brooklyn Bridge? This really brings back memories.

Gary - There's something very contemporary about it. It's a sign of urban life - cramped buildings, billboard, etc. Too bad there isn't a few people sitting on those seats there on the balcony (or whatever it's called) to add another dimension.

This is very good. I like the de saturated look to the photo, and I think the title is just fine, it kept my eyes moving around the frame(and there is plenty to keep my interest)...ah there's the table. I like it. It's like a mini mystery in a photo...or a where's waldo, in a good way. I like it.

Greg, Rod, Frog, Tom, Don, GB1, AE, and EOSthree. Thanks for your thoughts and critique.

I realize the table and two chairs that the title relates to is a bit subtle, but I thought there was enough evidence of it to make for the "puzzle" and would have the viewer looking for and finding the stated.
I agree a couple of persons could add to this, but knowing me, I would have waited for them to leave rather than wait for someone to come. I usually exclude persons from my images. . . not sure why. I like desolation and isolation. . .it somehow brings me a sense of comfort.
AE, I take it from your comment that you feel the title is too far a stretch to the small table and chairs?
I'm happy to know that some of you found the "mystery" a good part of the image and the finding the answer not too difficult.
Tom, these are actually apartments, at least some of them. I'm glad you like the extra treatment given them
    Thanks all for the time.

I think this is a jewel, I wish though, the billboard weren't there, it adds a cartoon look
to a very sleek, modernistic look but at the same time it adds an element of humor
    and splash of color.
I love the title and like you, I think it is more suiting to the mood this photo evokes
with the chairs empty. The converging angles and lines of the buildings and white triangle w table/chairs are really interesting. Bravo.

    Hi Gary,
I really like the mood of the shot. The desaturated colour and the grim sky deliver the melanchonlic feeling very well. There are also a few interesting triangles in the shot - the balcony, the placement of the two buildings, and the three tanks on the roof - as they echo to the retangular windows. I just wish the colour of the billboard could be more desaturated to fit in the theme. Well done!

Nah, I was just teasing you

I remember I saw a photo that was titled "horse" or something. Then everybody who looked at it tryed to find that horse while the photo basically just looked like another landscape shot. Finally, somebody commented that the horse was too small. Actually, I had a shot similar to that kind, too. And I was told I should have gone closer

Guess you know now why I didn't put any title to some of my photos.

I think it's great, I'm hoping to make a trip to NYC in a year or two to take photos. I think this really shows the buildings very surreal.

    Thanks for the comments.
Yeah, you should have alot of great photo ops and I hope you enjoy your visit when the time comes. I think some of the best opportunities are from off the island (manhattan)with the city in the background. Be sure to vist downtown Brooklyn, under the bridges. There are cobblestone streets and just a very old and authentic feel. Plus if you shoot the bridges, having the city skyline behind them is nice.

    Gary

I do like the effect produced by the photo - the lack of people makes this photo - excellent composition especially with the angles. I think the cartoon on the billboard fits in well with the rest of the subject. Love the saturation on this photo works brilliantly.

Two very minor nit pics -

First - left hand building, top row of windows from the left edge - 4th window there is something in the window that shows up like a man's head and body - If it is a man, can't see at this resolution it makes it even better as the loneliness of the seats speaks volumes having him there. Not sure if it would be better cloned out it not a man.

Second is either muck on the building on the right or a some dust from the sensor - this is located at 3rd line down on the building from the top, and on the junction of the first vertical line coming down.

    Tuna, thanks for the comment.

    Roger,
glad you point these things out. I checked with the original at 100% and the muck on the edge of the section of the building on the right appears to be some sort of discoloration or stain that ends abruptly at the edge of that rectangular panel. Perhaps it would be a good idea for me to just clean that up before working on print.
The figure in the window is an illusion as it is actually very difficult or impossible for me to see in any of those windows because of the reflections from outside. The only windows whose contents I can see are the three bottom lighted windows near the corner.
Thanks for the points and comments, as always.
