    Sunsets

    Hey all...

I haven't been here in forever. Hate it when life gets busy...

These are from our trip to Michigan this August. The sunsets were awesome so I have about a million sunset pictures. I hadn't taken very many sunsets before, so any suggestions for improvment would be appreciated.

Where'd you go.....U.P.? Or did you stay in the "mitten"? Nice work. Tough to get a good sunset and not get a lot of dark areas in the foreground, but I still like them. Most of my sunsets are taken at the ballpark, so I have yet to try by the lake. Something for my "to do" list next summer.

We were on the mitten. A state park right by the town of Newport, not so far off from Travers City. First time in Michigan-- what a beautiful state

I really like them all but my fave is the first. I love it that you were able to get details in the rocks. If I scroll so I can see the whole thing, my focus is the sunset. If I scroll to cut off the top band of the sky (just to the top of the clouds) the foreground (and the big rock) becomes my focus. And I like it both ways!

Great work, love the last two. A nice strong subject. beautiful colors, and a great background. The first two don't do much for me, but the last two are keepers. Well done,

I'm all about sunrises and sunsets. Your 2 with the grasses work for me. I love the colors, depth of field and simplicity.

The other 2 are too busy for me.

Hi CaraRose , your first sunset shot has potential ... from what i can see here , the composition would have improve further if a higher view point n a portrait format has been adopted . In this case not only it can create greater sense of depth to the pic but also it can register those beautiful refection from the sea . A ND soft grad filter will comes in handy at this time to create a more dramatic sky without sacrificing the details at the foreground .
