Sunset on the Farm
hey all. its been a while I havent posted anything or even checked out the great work you guys put out every day. I took this shot quite a while ago and never really did anything with it until I came across the rough set i took back then. I just want to know what you guys think. this is one of my first sunset shots I really like teh concept and I will further enjoy practicing and working with differnet settings and shutter speeds etc. I think its a bit oversaturated. and I dont want to have to turn this into a B&W. only because I feel that alot of people can take an average colour print and make ait a good B&W to up the art factor. anyways any input is appreciated.

Re: Sunset on the Farm
I like it, but I wish that the white (fenceline?) in the bottom 1/3 of the pic was sillohetted too. They sky looks good on my monitor and I love the color shift. It reminds me of one my dad took many years ago.

Re: Sunset on the Farm
I think the sunset looks great, and I can't see the fenceline on the the bottom. I wish, though, that the buildings were a little more distinct. I know it's a farm (I live in WI, how am I not going to recognize that) but the darkness on the bottom all just kind of rolls together. If the buildings were more seperated (maybe a different angle, or different buildings?) and had more of a shape to them, I think this would be a little stronger.

Re: Sunset on the Farm
The classic approach to this shot is to set up earlier on a tripod, to get a shot when there is more light and therefore more detail in the farm buildings etc. Then shoot another shot later from the same spot to get the sky colour as we see it now, and then in Photoshop combine the two shots.

Re: Sunset on the Farm
The colours are very clean, strong and vibrant. I agree with Adina that the silhouette lacks strength. I think if there a bit more buildings or if the building itself was a bit more interesting this shot would've been a ton better. Good job though.

Re: Sunset on the Farm
The colors are great. I would have dodged in a little light on the bottom so you could see some detail.
