    Sunset
My first real attempt at sunset - got a few different shots with different settings, all c&c welcome - this has been cropped.

Overall I think the image is a little dark and the foreground could use more detail (a split ND filter works great for situations like this).

I do think you were right to include the pole in the image as it adds depth even though it isn't the most attractive thing in the world. Sometimes you just have to work with what you have......

I am on the fence about the telephone pole. I do agree with MB1 though, the foreground is a bit dark (maybe crop some of it out?), and a split filter would have helped to prevent that. Photoshop can also help to fix scenes like this, although I think this one is too dark for photoshop to save. Did you use a polarizer or lower the exposure... or both?

you may be able to add a little exposure in lightroom to boost it up a little

Yeah i was unsure about the pole, thought it was better in rather than the crop which would cut into the sunset.

I have other shots that are not as dark I took at the same time, I will play with one or two of those and see what i can come up with - thanks for the comments guys.

If the pole wasn't there, maybe it wouldn't be as interesting. Nice colors
