Here's a grab shot from a while back. There was not much color in the original so I converted it to b+w. How could it be improved? Thanks in advance for your advice.

The drama is evident. Good idea to move to black and white.

I took the photo and cropped tighter to remove everything in the foreground and start the bottom of the photo at the plank walkway. By doing this I got rid of items to the left that weren't needed.

Oh yeah, before I did all that I used the perspective tool in PS to straigten your curved light post.

Good eye but I think a little post work will make it better. IMO

To go a step further, I would crop in even further. I feel that the photo doesn't need the two cars - so crop between them and go up to just past the light post (don't need too much blank sky). If you have Photoshop, you may want to straighten out the walkway too - it shows barrel distortion.

I love the position of the big boat in the highlight. Too bad it intersects with the tree line - not your fault :) Good eye in seeing this view.

I agree with the suggestions. The light post is a little too close to center. But by cropping the left a bit and cutting out the darkness below the walk, the image would be vastly improved. That would place the lamp post more the left and balance out the image.

I want to say just how well this is exposed. You managed to get the sun AND to get the detail in the lamp post. Also the planking on the walkway is so clearly defined. I'm still working on pulling that kind of thing off. Nicely done.

Thanks for the input everyone. I will try some of the suggestions and do some more work on the image. Thanks again.
