Sun shining through clouds

I did not actually wanted to post this photo , but i thought i should take a change .
I did a bit of photoshop work on it , removed some noise , trying to adjust the color .
Maybe it is too dark , i do not know , please forgive me if i wasted your time with this one !
I will appreciate your comments anyway .

Not a waste of time at all, James. You've captured a very scenic moment here; the colors and sunbeams are great. The only improvement I would suggest, is that you probably don't need so much foreground (dark area) in the shot. The reason is that there are very few silouettes and the ones that are there, are far away. So maybe crop about 40 pixels or so off the bottom and you're all set, basically.

Thank you for looking at this shot . I have tried your suggestion by cropping it of the forground area.
It looks much better to me with the foreground cropped out .
We going to the south coust this weekend . That is why i am practising now . I would like to get a few nice shots there .

James, isn't it funny how that works? You post what you think is a great shot, and get very few responses. Then you post what you think is not so great, and everyone loves it. It just goes to show that there's no one "good" type of picture, and that there are all sorts of different artistic tastes out there.

It always surprises me, and teaches me how to look at my work in new ways.

By the way, I love this shot, even with the foreground in. If I cropped anything, I might just go to the top of the "road", or that lighter area of the foreground.

And I like how panoramic it feels.

I have only been here for less than a week, but I suspect that the lack of response is due to the trend towards sunset shots right now. Between those and baby/kid shots, I think people look for something different to look at. By no means is it a reflection of a bad photo. Personally I think this one is spectacular with tremendous aura. However, I have been looking on here for photo's that make me say, "Wow! I never thought of that."

Thank you for your time to look and comment on this photo .
You do have a valid point there ( I think people look for something different to look at)
but i do not really agree with you there .
You see for people like me who is constantly looking for that " awsome " photo and because i only recently started photography , this is why this forum is so excited , due to the wonderful talented people with so much experience in photography that do not mind sharing there knowledge to beginners like myself. I could name a lot of people from this forum i have learned from . But how would i be able to learn ( that is my aim ) if everybody just wait for a different than " normal " photo and they do not give any input .
I am trying to be creative but like some said previously on this forum - photography is great if you can capture something that could be by no means different ( something everydays , not sure to express myself that good in english ) and turn it into something awesome.
But that still means even if the photo is " bad" the people must not just look , but give positive constructive critique .
I do not think it is of use for anyone to see that 200 people have look at his photo but no one care to give comments !!
I hope you would stay on this forum and also give comments , critique to as much photo's as you can and please do not only try to give critique to the " breath taking photo's ! I have also seen that by giving constructive critique you are also learning a lot !!

Great shot of those rays! They are breathtaking! I think the colors in the sunset as well as in the foreground are interesting- its just that you cannot see too much of the foreground.
I agree with the other comments on foreground, too much/too dark, and perhaps a crop, however that one crop was too tight. Maybe about half of the dark foreground? Play around with it a bit.
Overall its a wonderful picture!

Please, don't take my comments as a condescending look at the image or the subject. By no means is it mean to be. I agree that this forum is about learning from each other. There's no question about it. I've taken ideas and thoughts from this forum and applied them to my photography already.

I do plan on sticking around for a bit. I like having a place to go and distract me from programming once in a while.

James, this is very good. The rays of light coming down through the cloiuds is an excellent visual. Just put a sliver bit more foreground back in and print this one up in a panoramic aspect just like it is. Great shot.

I like the shot, but then I can never get enough of sunset/sunrise shots.

In fact this shot looks like a photo which would be on one of those inspirational posters that say something like "Persistence" and then have a supportive line below it like "persistence makes the end of each endeavor worth while" some sort of metaphor to the end of the day.

All i was trying to say ( in short ) more people should try to take time if allowed to give more critique or constructive comments.

please do so more often... I really enjoyed looking at this shot!

Only improvements I might suggest is trying to recover some details in the clouds and doing a less severe crop to the foreground...otherwise I think the saturation and "darkness" adds to the tone and mood of this shot...nice shot... :)

To me is a sure sign that a pic is a success.Thats what we are here for ,to share our pics and our views. I too am learning and i have been taking pics for 35 years or so. Yep thats right there is so much to learn and new techniques come along all the time.Then too there are areas of photography that i neither have the patience or the time for, in which case i love looking at other peoples work.
As for critque on others work i like to give MY opininions and thats all they are, mine!. I have sometimes upset others who do not see things through my eyes but i dont mean too. And here-in , i think , lies the crux.Viewers are afraid they will get it wrong and so say nothing at all.I have become used to it now so it does not bother me now, Liar !!!! lol of course i hate it when 200 look and 1 comment !!
Seriously, i take no offence when people give their views, it is amazing how many see it differently and are able to back their opinions with ways to improve the pic.
Anyway to all you guys out there i am trying to say ALL your views are much appreciated by all the people here.

I have to agree with previous comments - One of the better sunset/sky shots I have seen, makes me want to stay and enjoy. I prefer this type of image using the light rather than blazes of colour. Cropping about a third off the foreground and accentuating the panormic view would improve the image.

(hope this is not too much out of context)

I think it is good to recieve feedback (positive critique) on not so good images if we are to improve our "craft". Of course when we have a winner, as we see here, we must also acknowlege our feelings.

I think part of learning photography is to critique or put into words what we see around us and in the images we view. By doing this we are better able to understand what it is we like or do not like about an image, and maybe translate what we see and understand into our own images.

Any way I will get off the soap box for now. Thanks for "listening" and sharing your images.

I would just like to say thanks to all of you people that have take time to look and comment on this photo !

I will definitely make use of all the input and advice i got from this forum .
It just give me more and more encourgement to look at things differently and applying more techniques when taking photo's.
I appreciate all of your comments and critique !
