Yet another desert shot from GB.

If this were a shot of the ocean that would be one heck of a wave coming! GB there is a real sense of serenity at work here. I really like the cooler evening tones and the subtle silhouette of the mountains against each other. The tall bush in the foreground does a nice job of bridging the eye to the middle distance. The clouds continue the rolling line of the mountains. Bet this was a great evening!

Thanks Cindy. Too bad it isn't at the beach, but the colors sure make it seem like it already is. What I'm not sure about is the foreground: it almost seems artificial. Maybe it's too light. I also wish there was another element in the photo somewhere, say a bird or an animal, to spice it up and complete the picture. Alas, here it is.

I did camp out that evening, and it was nice (a bit windy). I shot some all night shots and am getting one of the rolls of film (yes, film) developed now. Film cameras with mechanical B are still way superior for all night star swirls IMHO... but I'm concerned that the winds were too much. We'll see. I had to wait till I finished the roll on the Medium Format roll, and have another 35mm that I still need to finish. Amazing how I just grab my digital now, expecting to see the images immediately ...

Yay film for night shooting! I totally agree.
As for the foreground I see what you mean it is a little bland. however the little tufts and mini sand dunes make a ripple look to the sand which is what made me think of the beach int he first place. Once it's out there the viewer gets to add their own weird perspective. I've had pieces sell that I thought were just 'meh' and the buyer would go on and on about this or that part of it that worked for them.

When the Sun aboriginal formed, it was dimmer. In 5 billion years it will be about alert as ablaze as now a fore it runs out of hydrogen and turns into a red giant.. Why does it get brighter afire beneath concentrated hydrogen?

It looks kinda lonely there with a hint of hope through the horizen.... I love photos that give that yin yang kinda feel.

I definitely really like the sky -- well done.

Real nice. It looks like there wouldn't be a photo there and then it all comes together. Excellent composition.

Lava, I agree this one's almost a miss. But then, for whatever reason, I get pulled back to it.. it might be the purple mountain (you've heard of Purple Rain? This one's Purple Mountain). I am still not sure of the composition, but can't find a better crop.

JMaster, YES! It does seem lonely ... maybe it's the big even-colored mountain in the back making the foreground seem deserted.

Cindy, that's what's really unusual about photography. You think you have a good shot and others often say Meh, but sometimes the opposite happens. Shooting an undeniably great shot should be our objective.. no dispute :P
