Summer Is Here
Well not quite :) ........but it was promising yesterday at the local beach. :D
I took these shots shots of the beach and reflections of the pier and a little later in the evening a couple of shots of a family playing ball..
I really like taking this type of shot and would be interested in others opinion.
On The Beach...............

I like the first one very much. The strong and consistent pattern in the sand draws the eye up to the pilings (at least, I think they're pilings, either that or giants). The colors are subltle so they don't detract from the strong geometry of the shot. The second two are very nice but aren't as compelling to me. Sigh...I love the beach.

First one is nice
I like to first one. Nice patters and reflections.
According to me the other two lacked subject emphasis. May be shooting shore from lower level produce better pics.

Irish..
Why is your name Irish instead of Aussie?
Iguanamom..LOL on the giants comment.
Ok, now down to business. I personally love these kind of shots. I live in florida so I'm at the beach with my camera almost every single day. Can't get enough of it and it's constantly changing. Your first one is compelling. That's a nice far reaching shot. Gives a real spacious feeling. Your angle couldn't be better for the placement of the couple and also the other two guys. Good color and good reflections.
In the other two, you must have been on the pier taking the shots (I just did that last night on my pier). But, I'm not so sure I would go on yours because it does look wobbly.lol
Anyway, in the second one - it's appealing for the design alone. Just let your eyes go out of focus so all you see is the shapes. They are in the right places. The people are incidental but necessary to the shot. A lower view would have been interesting too, but hen you did that in the first shot. Also It's hard to capture the lay of the land from down low. Especially flat land. It does need to be punched up a bit similar to the last shot but I think it's better than the last one because of the lines.
Question - I was under the opinion that Australia's water was clear blue, almost like the carribean. Isn't it? At least they show it that way in ads.
Nice pics Irish,

Two Jetties
Thanks Iguanamom your comments confirm what I see and like in the shot.
I like the analogy to the giants. I deliberately did not show the horizonal jetty to accentuate the vertical of the pylons.
Aurobindo.Saha the subject in the lower two images is the beach and coastline it's self, leading the eye to the bay and horizon.....obviously did not work in your opinion??
Hey Kit....where do I begin??
"Why is your name Irish instead of Aussie?"
I was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and although I have spent most of my life in Oz I have always considered myself and Irishman. Still speak with an accent so I'm told.
'Your first one is compelling. That's a nice far reaching shot. Gives a real spacious feeling. Your angle couldn't be better for the placement of the couple and also the other two guys. Good color and good reflections."
I tried to retain all the ellements I saw while at the same time showing the vastness of the beach in front of me. I liked the figures under the jetty but waited for the other people to move on, they did not. I have thought of cloning them out but decided against it, interestingly you commented on them.
"In the other two, you must have been on the pier taking the shots (I just did that last night on my pier). But, I'm not so sure I would go on yours because it does look wobbly."
Actually there are two jetties about a kilometer apart. You can just see the second (under the peir shot) from the third image. The jetties are quite safe the second one (under the peir shot) is well reinforced with a steel structure, you can see the double pylons next to the figures under the peir.

Thanks for articulating what you see as I have trouble sometimes putting into words what I see/feel about the images I take. I like them but are they any good??

Don't believe all the ads you read/see Kit. Yes we have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, great for surfing and swimming etc. This beach has quite a lot of sea weed on it though and the shots were taken very late in the day, if that makes a difference.
Thanks again for your comments. All much appreciated :)
