    Lifestyle series

Hello all - I'm old here. For several years, I've photographed in clubs and concerts and various other venues in and peripheral to/parallel with the goth scene. I've been goth for about 20 years - yes! Since before it was even called goth. I've actually photographed on and off in the scene since '89 or '90, but these images on my site are all shot with a Holga. I'm looking for a critique on each image as a singular image and as a series. Some are double exposed, as is my "thing." The layout is cursory, and I will be developing that more at a later date. FYI - adult material in the form of "alternative lifestyles," though nothing particularly naughty is going on.

    Thanks for looking!

    Howdy Megan,

I am glad to see some "new" material from you! Quite frankly, I really love these, I can't quite put my impressions in words but I just love the mood that this series convey. These photographs are just weird enough to be fascinating without being disturbing. I'd say that there is a Diane Arbus feel to them (or at least I imagine that Arbus works would be somewhat similar to this if she was there to photograph NYC goth scene today).
My favorite one is the boots shoot, nice framing!

Welcome back! I'm sure you been around, just consumed with making photos.

The Drama Pose @ Remote, Dance Floor @ Remote and the Mother-Daughter dance really stand out. Both of the first two as it looks like your photos with the Multiple Exposure thing going on. DF in particular with a particular empassioned, self-involved, and internally focused image.

The later, well, I guess it sign of aging in all of us. Thank goodness they closed some of the places of my youth, or my mom would undoubtedly insist on a Mother-Son outing.

How did the final Medusa/Women of Mythos series turn out?

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. And I couldn't drag my mother or father even close to one of my haunts!

The Women of Mythos series (or new_venus as I ended up calling it) turned out really well. When I complete a NICE webpage of it all on my site instead of something thrown up to get it on the web, I will surely post it here for feedback. Good things have come out of it like appearing in a British magazine and several other potentially good things that I'm not ready to post yet out of modesty and superstition!

Thanks! That's actually non-Holga. I've printed up cards of it to sell as Xmas cards next year.
