Impromptu portrait at an Indian restaurant

My girlfriend decided yesterday she wanted to wear her Sari and Indian jewelry. She asked where did I want to go, and I said, "Well, an Indian restaurant, for starters." So off we went. I naturally grabbed my 10D, with a 50 1.4 lens. It was late afternoon, and cloudy and we sat by the window. I shot this one at ISO 400, 1/250, F4.0

Since she was a professional model about 10 years ago, I didn't have to do anything except go "click." I love it when it's this easy.

May have been easy Stephen but those black bits of background sticking out each side of her head have done the shot no favours at all. Other than that it looks quiet unposed to me, as if the shot was taken in the middle of a conversation after she had just made her point.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

Thus the "impromptu" nature of the shot. However, the background is blurred, so there is fairly good subject/background separation. This was at taken when she looked up from her menu and just before she said, "What are doing?"

    Stephen,

Interesting shot. It definitely has that "impromptu" feel to it. I'm not sure if it's the best composed shot, but I think that works given the fact that was the intention of the shot. Good facial features and love the jewlerry. I think it might look better in black and white, but that may just be a biasedness.

    Good shot.

Not the best angle for this pretty woman. Even the worlds top models have to work hard to get great pics. You have also cut of the top of her head, a no no. Try again at her eye level and from the side.
