dese, Welcome to the Forum. You have spotted a good subject. The odd, twisted limb looks like a birds neck and beak. The first thing is that the subject is not sharp enough. It appears that you zoomed in to catch this and perhaps your shutter speed was not fast enough and some camera movement softened the image, as nothing in the shot appears to be in focus. Increasing you iso to increase shutter speed could be one solution.
You do not need to include the green leaves at the right, and getting closer to fill more of the frame with the subject might make this a stronger composition. The lighting here ( looks like the sun was up to the left and behind the subject) is not enhancing the subject but rather taking away from it, hiding it's textures and any detail.Waiting for the right lighting can be very important and usually very early or late in the day when the sun is softer and warmer helps a great deal.
Keep trying this , if you have the chance, from different angles and framings and be very aware of the focus, shutter speed, and lighting. I hope to see more.

I like the composition, but perhaps move the branch up a bit (1") and have more of the lower grass in the photo. Gary's said the rest.
