    Steel Salt & Pepper

    10 images focus stack

Done with the zerene stacker trial , took me maybe 2.5 hrs from the first shot to this thread with dinner in between

For a first trial I think I got nice results, only scale alignment

Manual focus with live view at 100% magnification and still I missed some focus, because the forward ball does not look as sharp on the closest end

    comments ?

    Thanks for watching

The salt looks good, but there seems to be some ghosting or something odd on the peppercorns. Same with the upper edges of the steel balls.
    mostly Nikon gear

Feel free to edit my images for critique, just let me know what you did.

    Re: Steel Salt & Pepper

very cool concept and well executed. But I think the reflections on the steel are weak. I think this image would be a lot nicer with a better reflection in the steel balls.

The salt and pepper look great.

And 2.5 hrs "with dinner in between" is a pretty vague description. Dinner, at least for me, can be anywhere between 8 minutes and 3 hours.

    Re: Steel Salt & Pepper

n8 , the ghosting I think maybe my PP need to look at the unprocessed image from zerene
Edit: looked at the zerene oputput , it does have the ghosting seems to be some vertical shift between the images, I'll try to do x,y alignment perhaps it can make it go away,
also looking at 100% there are at least another 2 missing shots so the pepper is 100% in focus

Anbesol, thanks, setup was kind of quick, my main intention was to use the focus stacking sfw, by having dinner, I should say, it limited me to using 1 hand while continuing to use the computer maybe 20 mins

    John, thanks for you comment

At this size and compression, I can say that it all looks good from front to back although I do see a hint of some ghosting as was pointed out. Looking forward to seeing some more of what you can do with this

Having attempted shots like this (I have yet to stack photos though), I can applaud your results. I do hope you keep sharing future shots utilizing this process.

I, too, am looking forward to see more of your focus stacking work. I'm really intrigued by the process, but not sure I have your patience Armando. Nice work!
