    The Steel Man

He was pulling on a rope but there was nothing nearby to explain the symbolism in this . Comments welcome.

Bobby----something like this is hard for me to judge without some background information. Too bad there wasn't anything to tell you what the purpose of this creation was. Technically, I think a shallower DOF would have helped by blurring the dome in the background. It tends to dominate.

Bobby I love it! This is sci fi! The dome in the background and the spiky grass. It looks like the cover to an Asimov novel. The harsh lighting really works more to your advantage in this image more than the first one of these posted. I like the alternating shadows and the mimesque reference of pulling the invisible something on a taught rope. Or maybe he is pulling something up out of the ground? I can't decide about that but the fact that its interesting and makes me curious is great!
    Nice one.

I think I've seen this. It's at the Eden Project in Cornwall, England. Good capture, wish I could recall what it was about.

I imagine the statue pays homage to the tensile elements in the architecture but that's not needed to appreciate the photo. I like the diagonal bands of color and the echoes of his spiky headdress in the foreground plantings.

    Bobby -

This is a great subject, but I agree with John. The background does tend to dominate, and a shallower DOF would make the subject stand out a little more. The lighting seems like it was a little difficult to deal with, but I think the shadows on the front side add to the image.

I think this is great. I like the bacground because it reflects the texture of his body, while the foreground picks up on his "hair". Very Sharp (pun intended).

Yes this is from the eden project. Taken on a brilliant sunny day with my digital camera. The project is indeed a futuristic look to where we all might end up. Here is an overall pic of the place and i will post more from there. Thanks for all the comments.

Seeing as i only live 5 minutes drive from the Eden Project, i'll tell you guys what this status is meant to mean...

The statue is a representation of Adam - there was another statue made of turf and earth which represented Eve. The Adam statue is now a part of the Rope and Fibre exhibition. It was designed by a local artist called George Fairhurst.

The reason that he is pulling rope behind him is meant to show the importance that plant fibres have been in human development. The rope is there as if he was the first man who decided to cut up a plant and use its properties in evolution - such as hunting, clothing, bedding, home building etc...

There is also a statue of Eve, which is built next to him, next to a row of apple trees.

Hopefully i have shed some light onto this statue. If you want to know why the Rubbish Man is there, just let me know.

    Good work Robert Ward !!

Cheers for the plug GordoUK - yes i do have images online, but seeing as its not far away - i couldn't not have!!
