Re: Stand Off.
Mark,
I love this. Great shot! Good use of colors/black and white, and great composition. Kind of has the david vs. goliath feel to it! My one critique is on the goat, the shadow on the left hand side of its body takes away from the beautiful color, but no worries. It's still a great shot,
Nice shooting,
Jared

Re: Stand Off.
Dude this is a poster just waiting for a mushy slogan!
I agree with Jared about the shadow. Perhaps you could try dodging a lil' on that flank.
Ok...Ok...Ok how about this one, "The bigger they arf, the harder they Baaaaa!"

Re: Stand Off.
Thanks Jared. These animals can be a riot to be around! David always wins!

Re: Stand Off.
Jared, Almo,
I have already brightened and increased saturation shadow side. It could be done better, but they're both quite old. And funny!

Re: Stand Off.
Mark,
I like the picture but I don't dig the photoshop effect of seprating it into b/w and color elements. The goat looks like he's been pasted in there because of this. I'd like to see the full color version.

For you Ray,
No adjustments.

Re: Stand Off.
Now that's more like it! Here, I've brightened it up a bit using curves and dodge tool in appropriate places.

Re: Stand Off.
I think a lower angle, something more from the side to emphasize the difference in dimensions would have made the shot stronger. Also, seeing the dog's expression would go a long way to get the tension or lack thereof across. The goat is not a very expressive animal, it doesn't bare teeth or anything, so for the most part I don't see a stand off here, I see two animals eyeing each other because they're different.
I think the PS work is gimmicky in this use, does nothing to help the image. Like the untouched version much better.

That goat looks like it's ready to send the pup flying. I agree with the lower vantage point but because of the moment you shot at...it is very clear that the little dog has over stepped his boundaries....goats are generally pretty mellow...funny shot good eye for seizing the moment...color works MUCH better with a bit of levels adjustment...but no too much... liked your tighter crop as well...

Neat idea, but the desaturation makes them look pasted in - at least to me. Those goats buck pretty hard. The dog could be in for trouble.
