    Spoonbill
Would like some comments on this photo ... do not have the settings. This spoonbill just flew in front of me in the Everglades and I snapped the shot.

Good job on catching it in flight - never easy. The pose looks great. I would guess that it was mid-day with bright sun since it seems somewhat washed out on top and dark underneath. Settings:

    E30 @210mm
    f/11, 1/1500 sec, ISO= 400

You wrote settings, is that for me, and how did you know that if it is?

The data is attached to the picture file - called EXIF. I use an EXIF reader called Opanda. Here is a screen shot of most of the data. - TF

really nice pose. very elegant. I wish it was a wider shot with the bird placed in the bottom left third giving it some space on the right to fly to. good one.

Nice that you caught him in flight. Unfortunate that the lighting is so harsh, but very common in Everglades expeditions, unless you can get there REALLY early in the morning. I'm guessing this was taken near Flamingo point (for everyone else, Flamingo is about 45 miles from the nearest entrance). I think the photo would work better if not cropped so tight, give the bird some room on the right to fly into.

Yes, wish in one hand - but it happened so fast I just 'almost a point and shoot', she just flashed in front of me.

And you're right ... Everglades, near Flamingo ...
