    Split Rail

Was asked to photograph a fence and shoot it as a HDR photo, 5 exposures , 2 shots- and 2 + plus one dead on.

compositionally its ok but its way over processed for my taste.

What do you mean by 2 shots- and 2+1?

I agree with Frog. I think the dynamic range is fine, but the post-HDR processing is excessive. You can see a halo around the top of the front fence post. – TF

    Re: Split Rail

I agree, this is why I don't like HDR. It seems too easy to overdo it.
Probably because it's applied all over the image, instead of just in places where it's needed.
I've seen some HDR without the halo effect so it's not intrinsic to the technique.
I don't know what the solution is, though.

    I'd like to see this shot,less processed,like the angle,comp,etc.

I made some adjustments, I'm still trying that's why I'm here.
I very much appreciate your criticism.

I think your correct about the over processing, but the angle and the composition is dead on.

I guess I'm so new to HDR, they always look cool, overdone or not.
I thought the first looked awesome, until I saw the second. Much improved, colors pop a lot more.

    Re: Split Rail

The second try is better. What I'm having trouble with is the bit of road on the upper right and the bit of, is it pine tree (?) above that road -- there's only enough of them to be compositionally distracting. I want the green grass to extend over there as well so that there is no interruption in the story your shot is telling.

But, I thank you for sharing your HDR attempts. You are a great encouragement to me to try something new!
