I think the B&W works well with the subject and the snow is a nice added element. I also like the grainy look to the columns and walls. I know you are a purist of sorts but I would fix the keystone effect with PS. It would save carrying a ladder around.LOL Nice Aaron....

Thanks Greg Yeah, unfortunately this is perched up a bit. This was about as straight on as I could do and still be able to see what I was doing. Really the only ways I could shoot this straight on woul be with a ladder or from across the drive which is also perched up a bit but, the 'cord doesn't exactly zoom so well and shooting that far away would loose the detail of the white marble which is causing the grainy look you mentioned. This is a great little cemetery full of possibilities.

Aaron - Nice shot overall, but I feel that it might be missing something. Some footprints, or a splash of asymmetry at the bottom like a dog walking up to the doors, etc.
The grain is unusual by the way. You don't see that very often anymore.

Thanks G I was sitting trying to think of what would work for another element. Not quite sure a dog would work but, you know what I was thinking is this might be a good candidate for a double exposure. Create a ghosting outside the doors, kinda bring the theme full circle.

I thought that was marble grain and not film grain but one has to look and wonder which I think is a good thing.
The only part I think is a problem is the front step left corner cut off.
Was it cropped at all?
Aaron - Hey I like your idea about the ghostly image. Try it. I also prefer the original version, though I might crop a tad off the left side so to eliminate that introduction of distance there.

ok.....i see now. The change in color/tone on right side made my eye think there was an end to the step and then it cut back which it didn't do on left.
Probably have you completely confused now but I take back my former statement about it being cut off.
Thanks guys The original was exactly how I had intended it to come out when I shot it. For some reason though, after scanning the negative and looking at it again, I'm just wasn't feeling the original anymore. First was the inclusion of the family name, I wanted that cropped out, and then it threw the rest of the framing off and I just played with crops until I got the one I first posted in this thread.

I think I would like the crop somewhere in between the two. I like the second one for some reason it looks a little more moody. I think the added snow at the bottom works better. That and now I know who's in there.LOL
I think I would crop the second one just slightly. I still think you should fix the lean. Nice work Aaron you have really stepped it up. The tones are very good. What film was this?
