Composition is good, nice high key effect but it lacks fill light. Your bug is dark. This could have been fixed with your on-camera flash set to an EV of -2.5 to -3.0 or you can correct it in post processing by adjusting curves or the midtone portion of Highlight/Midtone/Shadow.

I agree with above. I love the photo but the bug is a little dark. Sometimes when this happens you can correct it in post processing. I use Adobe Lightroom and you can select the light or dark areas and then adjust the lighting in just that one area. It can be difficult to do at times depending on the subject but in this case it would have been an easy fix.

Hoping you don't mind I did a quick edit by lightening shadows and adjusting mid-tone contrast in pse elements 6. Just a quick edit but you get the idea.
Your image will be immediatly removed from my hard drive.

And welcome to the forums......keep posting.

Welcome to the site and the world of macro-photography.

Suggestion - Insert the photo in your post. Some (like me) are too lazy to chase links to find the picture and many are reluctant to to click on any link because you never know where it may actually go - photo or spam/virus???

I like the edit a little better than the original, but it seems a little too dark for me.
Feel Free to edit my photos, However please explain what you did to them.

You want to adjust the FLASH EV not the regular EV (Exposure Value)
[edit] on the left front of the camera body near the top, there are two buttons
One of those has what looks like a lightening bolt with a "+/-" next to it (see attached pic.)
    That's your flash EV.
When you push that button the top LCD display will change to show the value (it should be at 0.0 right now)
Roll the back thumb wheel and the value will change in increments of .5 (go left and it will show +0.5, +1.0, +1.5 and so on, roll it right and it will show -0.5, -1.0, -1.5 keep going that direction until it hit -2.5)

This will give you some flash, but not the full flash value which works better with close subjects such as this.

    Re: My First submission

Good suggestions you have here already. You have a good eye for composition. Well composed and framed, but a little more dof and fill light would bring this up a notch. Frog has done a wonderful edit.
please do not edit and repost my photos
