    Don the second one is much better. The lighting is good, color ect. I can't critique the lighting you are out of my league with that one.

    just learning about/reading about using strobes in the past few days, but would exposing for the background to show up white and then quickly flashing the subject at the end (rear flash) work to get a brighter background while exposing the subject better (as in the second photo)?

    I wouldn't know, I'm using continuous CF bulbs :D
