    Conducting the Columbia River

Hi Everyone - this is my first forum post of any kind so be gentle.

I snapped this picture with my Sony point and shoot, and tweaked the image a bit in iPhoto. The train was standing still, and i stepped onto the tracks to get a couple of close ups. A few short seconds after i stepped off, a train came screaming around a corner. I almost had a heartattack.

Anyway, i love the image of the conductor looking back at the train, and although I'm not generally a "sunrise" person, I really liked this picture, and hope the upload worked.

    Thanks!

I like it. If you could crop some form the top, square format and bring up the shadows some. Really good composition.

I also like the composition but I think there is yet a bit more potential in this shot with a bit more pp work. there is more detail to be had on the front of the engine, there are also some strange artifacts around the conductor and engine, possibly due to sharpening or sizing for web.

    Oh and welcome to PR

Love the sky and the composition, spot on. My initial reaction would have been to move toward a silhouette of the train and person on the right to make the point of definition the sky, else completely on the other side, use an off camera flash to show up the train. Nice capture though.
