Evil Spirits at the Salton Sea

A haunted five image HDR from Bombay Beach. I also cropped it a bit.

Note: the Bombay Beach's Sunken City area has been disappearing little by little over the years with each visit. Finally saw why: some campers were collecting firewood from the ruins, and I also saw some residents having a bonfire in their yard w/ a wood pile sitting next to it, presumably from the same place. Arggg. I felt like giving them all an earful, but doubted this would make any difference in the long run. I guess we photographers will have to enjoy it while it lasts.

Greg, I love everything except the crop, it seems a bit tight

Matt, this is one of those times where you wish you had a super wide-angle lens. Here's the original - better? btw, if you're up for a SS photo expedition sometime let's plan one. G

nicely done HDR, pleasnt colors and contrasts

about the crop, why not take a step or two back ?

An alterantive is to do a panorama and stitch the shots later, I have done HDR panoramas... lots of work but ... if I have the time if covers the lack of a wider lens

Armando - Thanks. I love those scattered cloudy days. Regarding the crop and stepping back, in general this works though would not in this situation. So to get that exaggerated upward angle (to create the feeling of power), I had my tripod as low as it would go. Backing up would decrease the angle and change the shot. I didn't consider the stitched HDR, but you're right in why not (other that it's a bitch ..) - do you have any examples? I would be very interested in seeing. Post one in the PP forum w/ the intermediate photos.

Next time I may rent a wider angle for the weekend.
