    Shot from the harbor
First time really getting a chance to use the Canon. I have only owned it since the 12 of Feburary. I also am new to this photography. I have been shooting video for about 7 years though. Thought I would give stills a try. Let me know what you think? Mind you I had my 3 year old with me. I had one eye on the camera and the other on my son. Kind of felt like a camelion.:D

I like both of these except......

Straighten the horizon in your sunset and I am thinking a small crop from the left in the harbor shot (to get rid of the bright green object in the middle left). Great placement of the boat in your first image and I think you may have too much foreground in your sunset.

Welcome. Successful first images on your Canon.. I like the little rocks out there in the water on the sunset image, but like MB said gotta watch the level on the horizon! You can straighten this in software after the fact by the way. I would also watch splitting your frame into two equal halves like that. The first shot is OK and a good test of what your camera can do and what colors it produces. This one almost seems over-saturated, .. will let others confirm that or not. For whatever reason, it reminds me of Giligan's Island. :)

Hope to see more shots --
