    Re: 3 self portraits.

depends on what you are going for. The first looks like an expression of frustration, sadness or despair. The second and third look more like someone with a headache or being tired. I'm curious about the cup too, what is it? I think it would help to make it more obvious what the cup is and its purpose, or place in the scene. I see also an ashtray, which has obvious implications, but what you are smoking isn't exactly clear, the cigarette (I assume) isn't very visible, looks more like a pinner you rolled, presumably with pot. If that is the case, I think I'd go a little more out to make it obvious that it is pot. Moreover, there is the question of, what does the cigarette, or joint, or ?, have anything to do with the emotion, or headache or tiredness you are expressing? All of them are done very well technically, the only technical critiques I can think of are to fix the hot spot on your right arm in the and your left fingers. Maybe also if we could see more smoke, that might also make the cigarette/joint more obvious.

It might also help to know the context of the shot, which would make some of the themes and elements that are a little ambiguous to me be a little more apparent.

I can't pick a 'favorite' because they are all identical in exposure and composition, there is only the subtle difference in expression and your right hand. If you want the sadness/despair/frustration, then the first, otherwise, I'd say second.

I went with #3 - Can't really say why I went with it. Each seems to display a different emotion. Number 3 to me seems to be deep contemplation.

I will be interested to see what others have to say also.
    Cheers,
    Greg

went with 1 since the inclusion of the face doesn't really add to it in the 3rd one for me.
