    Santorini

Hi all .. another few images from my summer - from Santorini which is part of the Cyclades chain of Greek islands. The architecture is very, very distinctive - white buildings (to reflect the heat) against a very blue Aegean sky. I think the architecture almost takes on an abstract quality - shapes and forms being as important as anything. Comments are (as always) very welcome.

    Cheers

Wonderful colors and good composition too. I like how the blue skys match the building.

Actually, there was no polarising filter involved. The sky there really is the most incredible deep blue. I have been there 3 times now and the photos are always the same.

Nice shots. Seems like this style of architecture is unique- only the Greeks have it. The composition is pretty decent cept for the last one, which I feel is a little right. The simplicity of the shots is really relaxing.

I love the red against the blue in the first one and the angle and rope lines in the second
The third repeats the great blues but I would like to see a wider view.

I learn by critiquing so thanks for the opportunity.

Wow, these are my kind of photos. All three are just great, the colors are extraordinary. The first shot with the two angles coming from center to the edges is really nice. I wish the two lower bell openings did not have part of the building behind them but, what are you gonna do...The second shot, the best part is the angle coming up from lower left to the center, it is pretty strong and leads me to the top of the image. Third image is slightly off balance-shave just a bit more off the right side to even things out and this is done. I like all three, well done.

    Re: Santorini

Thanks all for your comments. I agree that the last one looks kind of unbalanced. Oddly though, this little dome is sort of iconic for Santorini - it appears in most of the postcards etc.

Unfortunately we only had a few hours there (we were on a cruise ship). As you can see it really is a photographer's paradise.

Just for fun, I'm attaching a picture of myself (taken by the wife) - we were at a winery on the south of the island (hence the glass in my hand!). The little town in the far background (behind the ship) is where the other images were shot.

    Cheers
