U.S. Navy Ships

Some shots taken out at Va Beach several weeks ago. I'm a little disappointed with the image quality on the fog-bound ship. The wide angle shot seems to show more of what's going on, but, not sure if it's too busy?

With the sunrise image, you will see an outline of two naval vessals. But it may be too discrete.

Nice again, I like how on the first one you used the coastline to give it depth, I also like the detail to the foreground.

The first one is good, but the lighting was to bright in the sky. also, would be stronger if the ship were a bit more prominent. A crop might help bring the ship in (some off the bottom and from the left) and burning in the sky some.
the second shot I like very much, but would have liked even more if you framed it with more space to either side of the ship. so the ship is not centered.
the last one the sky needs to be cropped just below the contrail, but the overall image just seems to distant and unclear from the atmosphere.

Greg - Thks. These shots seem to have their charms, mainly color and a ghostly feel. But I'm also cognizant of Gary's observations. The lighting and possibly the compositions needs adjustment here.

Here's a few adjustments, but I think I have worlds to go with PP. Gary, I don't see any way to crop in like you said without wiping out the shore on the left, leaving a feeling of mostly oceanic void. But I did take a shot here..

Nice shots GB Love the edited version of the first pic! I like how the fog in the second pics covers up the horizon/water line of the ship. Makes it appear as if it's floating.The one of the submarine at sunset has great colors but, I agree with Gary that it's a hair unclear. Would be better if you could bring out the sub a little bit more.

Xia - sub? I thought it might be a carrier. Appreciate your compliment on edit # 1. I think the more you put into learning PPing the better your stuff will be. Unfortunately, I seem to have very little free time lately. It's almost like I prefer to shoot and let some other eager souls do the editing and cleanup.

I agree on the sunset shot being too subtle, btw. It was actually at full zoom, and I took it just after my coworkers just called and complained that we were running late (and might miss the plane). Booo. Weather is so indifferent to us poor photographers.

Don't worry, you're not the only one who needs more PP experience. I still have TONS to learn with that program Was thinking about taking NYIP's class on Photoshop For Photographers. Unfortunately, nowhere around here offering classes for it. I just play around and try crazy things to try and learn my way around it
