for this shot i would like to see more. Since the title is touchdown would be cool to see some end zone action. a little more detail would be nice too but its alright. that pole on the right is a little distracting try cropping it out. but its not bad for your first post keep posting pics
Nice action shot, but to me, the colors seem a bit "faded". I took a copy of the photo into PS Elements and just choosing the "Auto Smart Fix" made a world of difference in the color of the grass, or turf, or whatever it is---you can tell I am no sports fan. You could also play with enhancing the reds, and, if you leave the goal post in, you might straighten it a bit so it is vertical. I'm no pro, and I don't know what fans would like to see, but this may give you some ideas of enhancements you can explore.

haha...well it is a brutal sport...and i love it...
I would agree with jay, than since it is entitled Touchdown niners, then something in the endzone would have been nice....
To be quite honest, i am quite surprised you were able to get this shot at all without having some fan jump up in front of you....dunno what lens you had, but seems you were not THAT far away...
The thing with sports photography, and specially when it comes to football (American Football for the rest of the world ) or let's just say NFL..hehe... the best shots are close-ups, which include the ball of course....
Seeing as you were not exactly holding a press card, and had to take it from a distance, i wouldn't be able to add anything that was not said...
But hey, we are all here to learn and help each other out.... dont fear brutality...trust me...the more you start posting....the more brutal everyone is gonna get....you see they get to know you and allow themselves to be straightforward with time....
i just love this forum and everyone in it...

I assume the title is the name of one of the teams.
In the Business section there has been a lot of discussion as to whether you have the rights to post this image on here without the appropriate agreements signed by the team. You may want to check this out.
As for the picture, it took me a while to work out what is going on because of the composition. the whole shot needs to be moved to the right . and the top dropped down to just above the ball to make it work. You also need more space at the bottom.
The ball should be closer to the catcher or the thrower to put it all in context.
I think you need a longer lense in other words.
As RS said you need to make some PP adjustments to bring out the colours.

I guess "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", but I certainly do not mind seeing the crowd in the distance. The goal post is a little distracting, but if you bring up the green of the field a little, and then select the ball and increase the red saturation a little, you can make the ball really stand out, and it becomes the "focal point" for the eye, which, with the fans in the background, places it about in the center vertically. In that way, at least in my opinion, it does not matter that the ball is so far away from the catcher. But that's just me...

Not bad, but you can sure see the potential of having a 500mm lens on the sidelines and getting the action of the QB tossing the ball. Guess ya need one of those press passes eh. If the image is large enough, try reporting a crop of one area of the shot, see how it looks....

Thanks Those are all good sugestions. I did crop and staighten the photo and I will put that up. I have since purchased a DSLR so I should be able to get much closer with A 300mm lens I have. Again thanks I think this is a great place to learn.
