Sacred Desecration

Re: Sacred Desecration
To me this has a "souls in torment" look about it, fascinating image

Re: Sacred Desecration
Very interesting image and lovely colours - can i ask what it actually is? I can see a ghostly face in the centre of the photo.

Re: Sacred Desecration
I wish it had a different title. Titles lead to expectations, whether we want them to or not, and I see nothing sacred nor desecrated.
It is a colorful abstract.

Re: Sacred Desecration
Interesting face on the right (in the red section) This would make a good image on its own.
This image in the center looks more like Mt Rushmore, arguably more political than sacred

I really like the abstract and the face looks like a devil with horns,

Re: Sacred Desecration
Well apparently opinions differ on the effectiveness of the title. For those who see the souls in torment (more or less the effect I was going for) the title is a bit more effective. I had originally called it sacred tablet, because a previous version was focused more on the grey part. But I redid it, painted in a bunch of contrasts to slightly enhance the faces, and the rather devil knight figure on the right and renamed it.
What it is is a picture of tiles on a waterfall in a swimming pool at the Alam Indah Hotel in Ubud Bali. Tone mapped and manipulated a bit in photoshop.

Re: Sacred Desecration
TBH this is one of those pics where I have no clue what am I suppose to look for/at and that for me is a big con. No offense mate but is not my cup of tea.

Re: Sacred Desecration
Whatever. I have no problem with your opinion.

Re: Sacred Desecration
daq,
I see the lost souls but for most people I think they will miss it completely.
Its like the dots picture thingy, either you see it or you don't.

Re: Sacred Desecration
Wow! I really like what you've done here. The composition is superb, and great eye for the shapes. The word 'desecration' in the title I (think I) get, the colors and texture give it a very decomposing look, the word 'sacred' is a bit lost on me though.
I am also not surprised that this is a very 'love it or hate it' kind of shot.
