I think this would have been stronger if the subject were sharper. The bg blur is very effective and the framing is fine, although maybe a bit tighter than i would have preferred.
Somehow, this strikes me as a picture that would benefit more from having color.
Great moment and subject, but a little sharper would have been good.

Looks like the centre of the pan was the front wheel and not the people's faces.
That's why they don't look sharp. I think.

I agree about the sharpness point but I feel there are sort of, compensations and one is the way the boy has seen the camera as if to say "Look at me, I'm brave". The original colour might be very nice too.

if the blur was at the front of the bike it wouldn't be so good.. at the rear and going off frame i dont think it detracts form the picture in any real way..

I feel that what makes the picture is the child looking at camera. It would be a much stronger image if his face wasn't moton blurred. Where's their helmets????? I can't beleive she would put that kid on a bike without one...

Pretty nice shot...if the driver and rider were sharp, the feel of motion would be even more pronounced.

Greg,,this is Asia...Although helmet laws do exist they rarely wear them...I have seen a family of four all on the one bike without helmets...In Laos they go one step farther..The police will put in a public notice in the Vientiane Times saying they are going to crack down on helmets on a certain day..On that day everyone wears a helmet!!
