Fly Fisherman

This was taken on a rainy day. Worried about the brightness of the falls and darkness of the rest of the photo. Also worried about if I have oversharpened this. Shot with a D60 and standard 18-55 lens with a circular polarizer (which shouldn't have any affect on the photo, as far as I know)

I like this, that's a beautiful place. I might have tried a longer focal length and concentrating on your subject and one of the 3 main falls.

Maybe a vertical shot, more of the falls at the top of the photo with the fisherman at the bottom. So many possibilities Good photo.

Yeah, this is a really cool shot. I see several photos in there, with some creative cropping. Balance of brightness is fine, but the leaves on the left seem a touch oversaturated to be realistic.

Good ideas, I had not thought of that. This is roughly the bottom 1/3 or 1/2 of that falls. If you don't mind me asking, what is the point of the longer focal length? Is losing some of the depth perspective a good thing in this circumstance?

Additionally, if I were to recrop this vertically, is there anyway to make the waterfall look less exposed? I'm not proficient in photoshop yet.

I really like the photo and the colors, but I have to agree with danic. A vertical shot with the falls behind the fisherman would be good to see.

July 4th at the Cascades Waterfalls in Southwest Virginia. It's about a 90 minute hike to the main falls. This was one of the first "real" shots I took with my camera and am clearly still learning or I would have had some from the vertical and mixed around my exposure settings. Having hiked this a handful of times, this was truly a once in a lifetime shot for the area, as it is generally filled with swimmers and sunbathers. I ended up very happy with my decision to continue on the hike even with the horrible weather.

I like it the way it is. There are definatly as many differnt pictures to come out of this one depending on how much immagination you have. Im distracted by the boxes on the middle ledge of the left waterfall. Do you know what they are? You could maybe try "erasing" them, im not sure how but im certain someone could give you advice on how to do that if you wanted.

They are rocks, I have not tried to remove them, but next time I edit this photo I will try it
