    Road Works at Night
Here is a road construction supervisor on the phone on a road project at night. A steam roller is not included in the frame but the steam that it is letting off is. One of the workers in the background noticed me taking the photo and struck a pose while the guy in the middle kept on working. I shot this as a passenger in a friend's vehicle while traffic was stopped. One of the reason I got an A80 was to try street photography and seems to be doing the job quite well for me. This photo is not tack sharp so is a bit rough but "getting the shot is better than not getting it." Please critique. Thanks.

I like it Barmy, only thing is I wish you had been able to get all of the guy who was posing. Maybe crop a little off the top too.... :) I like the action in this picture and the concern of the supervisor is evident. I think it is very nice.

Bump the contrast up a little, the black isn't very strong. Good street shot, I'd probably worry more about "getting a shot" than making sure everything is technically perfect. That will come with practice.

    Hello Barmy,

I agree with the relative lack of contrast and the fact that the picture isn't tack sharp but other than that I like it a lot. Ultimately, the fact that the picture isnt perfectly sharp works well with the significant steam.

The picture is really really moody and I like your framing. It almost look unreal and somewhat eerie despite the guy smilling and posing in the background.

    Hello Barmy,

I think that your second version works even better than the first one.

About my first comment, I didn't meant "moody" at all (poor word selection, please pardon my english). My point is that your picture have a strong cinematic visual impact.
