road to somewhere
Finally got out to our state park for the probably last day of real winter conditions.

Re: road to somewhere
Like the black and white, and footsteps really add to the composition.

Re: road to somewhere
I like it but the snow is grey. Might should read up on how to expose snow, it will trick your cameras meter and it will expose for 18% grey. Got to +1-+2 snow.

Re: road to somewhere
Thanks guys.
I might have botched something when exposing for the snow as I was bracketing with my exposure comp +1, but yeah, I'm aware that I need to do that. This is actually a two shot hdr that I further tweaked in silver efex...I wasn't really going for proper exposure here.

Re: road to somewhere
I was going to say what Gary said, it looks underexposed to me which is a shame because the rest of it is so nice. even if not exposing properly (?) wasn't your intention, the result is that's how we see it.

Re: road to somewhere
If you shot RAW it is fixable.

I got ya. My intention was to expose properly at the time, but I tend to veer away from that in pp. I can hear how getting the basics right still stand when getting artsy. Better?

Re: road to somewhere
I like the edited version, N8. I did not mind the dark and gloomy feel that you achieved in the first post, but what bothered me was the intensity of contrast and definition of the clouds were overpowering and distracting my attention from the road and footsteps.
In this edit, there is still good sky tone and definition but the attention stays on the foreground and the footsteps.
Nicely framed and good spotting an interesting subject.

Re: road to somewhere
I like the edit better. Looks like it might be leaning right. But it is definatly better.

Re: road to somewhere
good feedback, thank you,

Re: road to somewhere
Much prefer the second. I play with curves a great deal in B&W so maybe that would be worth trying out if you're unhappy with it.
-
Re: road to somewhere
That's how I fixed it actually by using the curves in the plug-in.

Re: road to somewhere
The second edit is fantastic. Kinda reminds me of Ray Metzger's infrared landscapes.
