    Road Bike

Shot this earlier today while taking some snaps for a craigslist ad. Ambient light with a small reflector. Tried a little different processing than I usually use.

Nice shot Jet. I think it's fine, no critique from me.

I like the composition on this very much. Great focus and out of focus areas. If I have to nitpick, I don't like the BG color all that much, its a bit dull to me. But I think that is very subjective.

    Re: Road Bike

My nitpicks would be to have included the entire derailluer cage if possible. The color gamut does't appeal to me either, but that's entirely subjective. It seems like maybe the blues could be backed off a bit.It sort of has the feel of over-processed HDR which is not my favorite look.
    I like the focus elements.
    It's not about the camera....

Jet - I definitely find myself drawn to the sharp area of the photo and away from the blurry ones. This is good technique to draw attention to a particular area, but is there anything really there that that spot (left side)? Maybe the entire scene should be sharp? F22 or even 32.

    Re: Road Bike

Greg, point of focus/main subject in my mind when taking the shot was the Campagnolo logo, so I guess on that level it worked. Felt to me like there really wasn't anything interesting enough going on with the rest of the shot to require it to be in focus. Even blurred you know it's a gear and a chain and a tube. Beyond color, there isn't much more that needs to be said about them. The background was a piece of Maple plywood, about 12" away, perhaps not the best choice for this particular shot but worked well to show detail on the profile shots of the entire bike.
