What do you guys think about this? I did this the other day, I think what did spoil it somewhat is the crane things sticking up in the background. I am wondering if I should try edit them out?
Anything else wrong with it?

This is a great picture. I would however if you can pull it off try to get a few of the cranes out of the picture. The ship is the focal point and the cranes just kinda pull away at it. Leave one or two though so you still get the shipyard look. Great Shot

Hi. I think this is like a pretty postcard-like picture you'd get at a tourist store (especially with the text on the bottom-right). It obviously has no problem drawing someone's attention to the ship, although perhaps I feel as if the ship occupies more volume horizontally than vertically in the picture? I think this gives a feeling of being too cramped on the left and right because of having a bit too much room on the top and bottom (although the room on top gives a good view of the smoke). And oh yea, the cranes are not too distracting at all I dont think. Maybe it's their color that seems to make them feel like an eye sore. Maybe if they were orange..

I'd like to see a full broadside, or more of a 45 degree angle on the image.

I have to agree about more room at the front, you need to give room for the boat to breath in the environment it lives if you see what I mean.

Other than that I like the cranes the sailing and speed boat and the buyo which all lead to an impression of size and might. I would consider croping at the wave which crosses the bottom of the picture but that would give you some problem with the writing and would then need a little chopped of the top.

Thanks for the comments, in the short time I have been reading this forum I have learned more about photography than anywhere else.

I seem to be stuck in the habit of not leaving enough room, am out again this weekend with my camera so will keep this in mind for future pics.
