Great composition. I really like how the waterline curves through the photo, drawing you in, and the branches above seem to almost mirror it in the way they curve down.

Very nice! What kind of trees? Are those leaves or needles? Are they supposed to fall or are they dying? – TF

Positives: The curve of water/land leading my eye in is perfect. The line of trees echoing the land and water. I also like the uniformity of the 'red carpet'.

Negatives: It seems to be tilted to the left. There are several blown out bits on water, trees, and leaves that I think could be eliminated. They really distract my eye.

All in all quite nice with those bits of white being the biggest problem for me.

Very nice. I keep looking at the trees that are submerged in the water. they are interesting and make a nice grouping. I feel like I want to see a photo cropped of just the group of trees there in the water.
Good work, the red needles add a wonderful touch of color to an otherwise gray scene

Very interesting scene and color range, on the picky side it´s a bit too soft, on the other hand and this is more of a personal matter....I like to have a more clear focal point in the overal composition.
Possible PP improvements...might aid adding some mid-tone saturation and some sharpening.

I really like this photo and came back to it 3 times now. I think some time in photoshop would really help turn this photo from good to "wow!"

Cleaning up the ground and changing the green foliage in the background to red would be a start. Getting rid of people/road/floating debris, too. I can't figure out a good way to change the sky, so many get rid of it by doing a pseudo panoramic (crop like halfway down)?
And then some other effects would be worth trying. I'm not good enough to say how the curves would have to be or if auto levels would work or what. That also affects the mood quite a bit and really should be up to you.

This photo is good just like it is, IMHO, but with some great PP -- which I wouldn't have a clue what or how to do -- like somebody said, it would be a WOW one!

This is disticum Taxodium (swamp cypress) Deciduous tree that can reach a height of 25 - 30 meters.
They are in the resting phase in winter, the leaves grow back in spring.
I'm enclosing a picture of the kind of tree taken in summer.

your comment I'm glad because it is right and good to talk about a picture.
As for the slope to the left, probably due to an optical effect. In this photo I used the virtual horizon of my Nikon, but perhaps I was wrong.
White points you mention are not blown out bits, but feathers of birds that float and residues of a light snowfall.

I tried to implement your suggestions, the image is technically better but, I think, miss the atmosphere of the moment. The day was very dull with fog and drizzle. I tried not to alter the color point of view shooting to make it as natural as possible.

as I said above with some interventions (quite simple) picture had improved from a technical standpoint, but I would greatly altered reality. Frankly all the interventions that you mentioned seem excessive, as created would be in the studio. However, it is always a matter of personal taste I respect.
