    Night Work In Balboa Park

I haven't shot pictures at night for quite sometime and Balboa Park never disappoints. Hope you like them.

Re: Night Work In Balboa Park

Hi CF .. pretty decent job here! As you say - a good location is worth it's weight in gold. Of the two I prefer the second - I usually find that evening/night shots are much better with some light in the sky. The sky in the first one is just a little too dark I think. It's a problem, I know, because the golden time is so short.

I have always enjoyed your night work CF, I like them both but the second the best. The reflection is super.

The blue period was missed here but more so I feel that the shutter speed was too slow resulting in the water being turned into something other than water..

Thanks for the comments/suggestions. I did miss the blue period, it was nearly pitch black when the reflecting pool shot was taken. I see what you mean about the surface of the water, but I kinda thought it looked pretty neat being soooo flat.

    Thanks again, regardless.

    Hi CF,
The composition of the second one has an excellent sense of depth. It's a great location.

I feel the first capture is framed too tight on the bottom, missing the wonderful colors displayed through reflected light, texture from the interesting wet cobblestones.
Just my thoughts,. Reshoot Image one...great potential here. I like the subject very much.

    With regards,

    Rick

    Rick,
Thanks so much. I wondered about the bricks, too. But only after I got home and could see the image. Why don't we see things at the time? Something about having a trained eye and experience I suspect. Regardless, thanks for the pointer and will have to make a point of re-shooting it soon. Well, next month when the moon is full.

    Thanks again.
