rays in the redwoods

This was one of those "right place, right time" shots. I was driving a muddy track through the ancient redwoods we have around here and around a corner was this scene. It was waaay more awesome in person, as these things usually are. I've never had the opportunity to shoot something like this, though. How did I do?
Elan 7N, 28-105, scanned Fuji 100 Super HQ.

I think you did quite well with this shot. The mood is, is, is... I can't even think the right word to describe it... inspiring comes to mind, as well as breathtaking. I really like this shot. A great capture IMHO.

I didn't expect such great responses, thank you all so much! :) As is the norm with pretty much everything I shoot, I'm doubting the composition with this one. Could I have done something different? Better? I want this to really scream, but to me it only yells... This is also a good example of not trusting a generic lab to get you good prints. The print they gave me of this frame was so contrasty that the trees were all black and the rays of light were bright yellow with no real "misty" appearance to anything. After I scanned the neg, I almost just threw away the print... the difference is big. Thank you again everyone! :)

This is really a great shot and capture. I'm sure the scene in person was much more impressive, but your photo does a VERY good job of capturing the moment. You should be proud of this one, I think its calendar worthy. It has a lot of great elements. I like the little bit of dark areas on both sides and you have some interesting trees outlined.

The only critique I would make is that when given a scene such as this - shot a lot more pictures at different angles. Use a vertical composition, change your aperture, shutter speed...you never know which combo could make a scene like this scream.

Composition was right on target, in my opinion! Excellent shot! I LOVE the way that you've captured this shot with a slight upward angle to showcase the height of the trees and the rays of light coming through are splendid! This is definitely a keeper!

Thanks so much! I'm growing more proud of this with each comment from everyone... I did not expect such responses. This was a real snapshot, just got out of the car and stood in the road burning off the end of the roll. There's another roll with a few more shots with my little p&s, but they haven't seen the lab yet. So there's a few others out there but so far, this one is the best. The vetical-oriented shots just don't quite get all the long rays in, though. Thanks again, PlantedTao! :D
