    Print worthy?
Here is another shot that I am/was considering adding to my 2006 calendar. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. The head seems too blown out for me and I think the image could be a lot sharper. I cropped this quite a bit and did some USM to both the eagle, and the bg. A little more to the eagle because I wanted him to stand out from the bg a bit. Shot with my DRebel, f5.6, 1/640 sec. ISO 200 with Sigma 170-500mm zoom set at 500mm, hand held in a boat. So give me your thoughts. Should I include this image or wait for something better?

    Thanks for looking.

I don't agree with your wording in your poll but I voted no; sorry. It would be a strong image if it was more in focus and the head wasn't so blown out.

I'm gutted for you; I'd be really annoyed if I missed an opportunity like that. What a magnificent bird!

    Better luck next time :)

Yeah, the head is blown out so you can't really see the eye. Where did you get the chance to take this picture??

I took this shot while on vacation in northern Wisconsin, on Little Arber Vita Lake. Just east of Minocqua. I wasn't too sure about this shot and was planning on scrapping it, but thought I would post it to get some other opinions. Thanks for the comments!

It is blown out for sure, and seems out of focus too.
    Tell us about your calander.

    Thanks for the comments!

Well, the calander idea came to me last week. I went to my girlfriends family's house for an early Christmas... Her uncle has a very succesfull heating and air conditioning business in a suburb just outside of Chicago. He gave everyone a small pocket sized day planner/calander with the company name on it. So, on the 5+ hour drive home, I had lots of time to think, and I decided to take 12 or 13 of my favorites photos and have them printed into a wall calander to give as Christmas gifts to my family and friends next year. I'm still in the process of gathering the images and haven't even thought about a printer yet so it's still pretty early in the planning stages. Has anyone ever done anything like this or could you recomend a printer for this type of project?

Sounds like it could be expensive (printer, ink, paper etc.)
You should send the pictures somewhere that could do it for you, you may be surprised at how proffessional looking it will be

I did some searching on the net last night, as well as calling a couple local printers. The cheapest place I found could do it for about $5 per calander, but the minimum order is 500, that's a lot of coin for a couple gifts... I was thinking more like 20-25 at the most... The cheapest place I have found that will do a small # of them is a local shop about a mile from where I work. They can do them for about $18 each. More than I was hoping for but I can live with it. I still have plenty of time to figure out what to do with the project tho....

Nice try. That was almost a winner if the focus was a tad better. Tough shot with that zoom lens.
