Portrait of my chick.

This is my baby cockatiel. S/ he is about 3 weeks old.
Lighting is from the window. I use a white styrofoam sheet as backdrop and reflector.

Nikkor 18-55mm, f5.6, 1/125s, ISO500, +1.3EV, 55mm.

Fascinating image

It is an interesting image , the colour and lighting is fine , but I feel it could use a little more space on the left. Bird chicks can often look a bit gawky so zooming in on the head is a good idea.

One more. Both are siblings.

f7.1, 1/80s, ISO800, 55mm.

The second is much more interesting than the first, with the pair together. There is a little too much open space on the right, which could be cropped. I would aim for the center line of the photo to be the center line between the birds. Some could be taken from the top, too, just to tighten it slightly more (maybe halfway between the top of the photo and the top of the highest little green feather on the righthand bird).

They are very cute! I grew up with a parakeet, and I like birds.

I agree with dwaugh. The first one also looks a bit soft...perhaps some more sharpening.

The 2nd photo is original, uncropped. Your suggestion may sound like a better idea. I will re shoot the chicks. Thanks.

Also feel the second is more interesting, and great too. Might use a little deeper DOF too, just to be safe.
