    Portrait of the lovely Gabriell

Gabe is a model I've shot on three separate occasions and we seem to work really well. This shot was taken in the warehouse in The Presidio. The frosted glass windows work really well to throw soft light on the subject while keeping the background dim. I call it my "ghetto studio" since I don't have my own rig.
Shot this on Tri-X 400 with my 50mm f2 lens. Probably f2.8 at 1/125. I've been able to get a beautiful print in the darkroom, but to critique on that you'll have to make the trip to San Francisco.
    Thoughts and comments are appreciated!

This window obviously treats you well MMC.

Her eyes are so beautifully intense in this image. Her face has some very classical features. She looks like she she stepped out of the Victorian era. I'm sure she's very pleased. Gorgeous portrait.

Fantastic lighting and a stunning model! I love her full pouty lips and piercing eyes! Great portrait!

    Those Eyes!

You know MMC, this portrait captures the essence of a great portrait!
First off, the eyes are tack sharp which causes my eye to go directly to them.
Secondly, it has a great quality of light!
I am sure the print is so much better than it appears here!
My only sugestion would be to burn in the spot just under her jaw and/or her left cheek.
That area is a little too hot.

Thanks for the input so far, guys! I had scanned this a few weeks ago and I was moderately pleased, but it grew on me a week or so ago when I finally got around to printing it in the darkroom. The first critique I received from my professor was along the lines of Brian's, and suggested burning in more of her face. I've done that on subsequent prints, but I never went back and did it with the scan. I'll have to do that with this one as well.
Thanks for taking the time to look!

Hmmm. The extreme contrast and small DOF makes it appear to be a pic from another era, maybe the 1940s or 50s. Her expression, and your sharp focus of it and her eyes is powerful. Personally, I find that the light on the side of her face is just too hot (maybe its my monitor, since no one else seems to mind?)... it seems to wash her out a little. I would have added a tad bit more neg. space above her head, but that's a nitpick.

    Very nice work,
