Hmmm I think it's an interesting pic and small enough so you're not overwhelmed. I'm wondering if maybe more lighting would give it more dimension or just be too much. For some reason it's subliminally attractive. That's probably just me though, drawn to colorful things:p

Bland no, kind of interesting to me.I don't know why but it makes me think. I like it.

I think a slightly narrower DOF, possibly the sticks in focus could be a tad over sharp so they stand out and maybe one or two broken sticks for variety.

Can't really call it bland, but it doesn't have a lot of pop, either. Without a specific subject, I think it would be improved if the entire image was in sharp focus.

more contrast, and some shadows would help a lot. would bring out the texture more dramatically.

Bump up the blacks and the saturation a tad?

It seems like the right side has some ghosting ...so, if this is an HDR, I would try a little bit more tone mapping...which made do several things - contrast, color and such ...

I can't think of a better response than this. And, again, I appreciate all the c/c.

Here is another version of the same shot. llewpics, good eye on the HDR, this one is not.

I like the warmth of the first one better. It very nearly gives an underwater illusion effect. Like others have said its an appealing shot almost like eye candy. Very nice work!
