    Playing in the sand
I'm not big on B+W so I've been trying to do a few photos every time I go out. How was my conversion? My PP work?

The composition and the subject are very good. There is a certain sincerity / familiarity conveyed and this works as well. regarding the conversion - I assume you were going for sepia ...on my screen in has quite a bit of a sepia tinge to it. I don't know if you did it this way or not, but splitting the image into Red, Green and Blue mono channels first and looking at different options (by channel) available before a conversion usually gives you great ideas. I would suggest that in this conversion the subject is a little dark and the rocks light ...I would try and play around to see if you can bring some light to the subject and perhaps vignette around the image. This may have worked with a a little fill in flash as well ...

Ivan, you framed this perfectly. Love the connection with your subject. I agree with lew in that this is really a sepia conversion as opposed to b&w. Not sure from your description what your actual intent was, but the conversion here works well for me. I agree the only "problem" with this is your subject is not lit quite enough especially compared to the rocks in the bg. Adding a slight vignette around this might help bring attention to the subject, and up the exposure a bit more then.
    Nice shot overall, really.

    Very nice shot

After seeing the original , I think the B&W conversion will have her brighter if you use a red filter
then apply the vignette around her and I think it will be great
