Pitlane Reflection

Bearing in mind the discussions we've had in viewfinder about reflections, some want the whole picture, some think just the glasses is cool.

How's this one?

I think the whole picture tells a more compelling story than the glasses would on their own. The whole definitely exceeds the sum of the parts.

For me it depends. If it was just the glasses with his girlfriend's face smiling in them, I would say that would work . But this a more dynamic image so I think his whole face is required. The stadium behind him helps to put it all in perspective and makes it seem like he's facing his dreams. The expression on his face brings it all together. e looks determined.

i like the first picture with his whole face in it. i don't think the reflection is dynamic enough to warrent a whole photo, lol. plus the fact that the guy is kind of hot helps :D

Definitely the 1st one. It shows what your shot is all about better than the 2nd which is a bit more mysterious. The yellow to red hues of the reflection also add a great deal to this IMO as they stand out from the BG and the person photographed quite a bit.

I do however think it needs a tad bit of colour correction to make it pop. There's a tad too much blue/cyan on my monitor especially in the skin tones but it's still a very nice shot.

I definately like the first shot better. To me it shows what he has his sights set on, almost literally :D

And the serious expression on his face makes it look like he's in thought abot something.

In it's basest form it's a simple portrait of just another Joe Blow. However, we can make out the stands in the background, and the incredible lines on the reflections in his sunglasses convey a sense of speed. Couple that with the determined look and this could-be-any-guy to me stands out as either a race driver, or someone who loves racing. I dunno if he is or not, but that's the subtle message conveyed to me. He's stitting still, but his mind is on the race, the track, his car/bike/whatever. His mind is always in motion.

Yeah, maybe a little over the top, but the picture brings out the racing/car lover in me and the emotion and excitement that comes with it, withtout there even being a vehicle in the frame.

We were both on top of the Pits building at Circuit Catalunya, watching the F1 testing. Only serious fans get out to the F1 test sessions.
