Re: Photos in Kildonan Park
I like the high saturation and contrast on the second shot. Gives it a lomoesque feel. The stones on the first one almost seem too sharp to my eyes.
Re: Photos in Kildonan Park
Don, I really like the first one. The boy probing unassumed. I think the water has a really nice subdued quality and colors. I'm wondering if you should crop some of the rocks out either from top or bottom. I think this one is a winner.
Re: Photos in Kildonan Park
I like the first picture. I would try cropping at the top putting the boy higher up in the frame. I couldn't do it with my PS skills but if you have the capability you might try lightening the face just a tad. Overall Nice Picture.
On the second one I am going with that your looking for the saturated look and my only suggestion would be getting rid of the window glass coming in slightly from the right from the adjoining window. I think this would look best completely framed by the window, giving IMHO a good contrast and balance with the saturated look you’ve created. Experimenting in photography is probably one the best and fun ways to learn.
Thanks for Sharing.
Re: Photos in Kildonan Park
Thanks guys. The second shot was actually taken throuh a window--those frames are real. I thought they symbollized division between the partners.
Re: Photos in Kildonan Park
Don,
After you leaving me such a nice comment on my Wall photo, I hesitated to leave the following remarks. But, in keeping with the purpose of the website I offer my opinion on your two shots and hope you will forgive me. The concept and composition are nice, in both. I like your thinking regarding the frame vs division of the people on the bench; very clever. Note how just the woman's toe creeps into the man's side of the shot. That is great! But, the shot of the boy and pond is quite over sharpened; I am not wild about the saturation of color and high contrast of the couple on the bench. If you can tone these elements down and re-post I would like to see them again. On another note, I assume these shots were taken near your home, that the snow is finally gone and spring has come your way. I hope.

Indeed! We are into glorious Spring. We have the most beautiful summers here. Thanks for your comments.
Re: Photos in Kildonan Park
Don...i think the rock is basically border...crop and frame this kid...I tried a few different ones...and I think its a really nice picture. On one I had him on the upper left. I have 3 young boys..maybe i'm biased. let me know if i can post my cropped suggestions.

I did one like that, but then I played around too much with the rocks trying to blurr them out. I got frustrated and went back to the original. I just have no faith in the camera. I like that crop.
