This is a beauty Tom. I thought it was a selective color job at first glance because your little virgin is so vivid in contrast to her mostly monochromatic background but a closer look says that's not so. The composition is quite compelling with all of the rubble and concrete. I love the bits of green from the ivy and other plants in the background as well. A subtle image that makes me muse about post people scenarios and future archeology. Prayer sounds like good advice.

    Regards,

P.S. Went browsing around your website yesterday and really enjoyed the experience. There's some great stuff in there. Good Luck with it.

Yes, very well done. I'd remove all color to the left of her though, force the user's eyes back to her and the ledge. Great use of DOF and composition here.

Ha! It looks like she's about to jump off a cliff. I'm too lazy to look if anyone asked this already, but was this taken in color or black and white? I've seen a lot of pictures where people add color items to black and white pictures unsuccessfully, but this really works for me...even if you didn't do that...

This was taken on a wet miserable, windy day. It's taken straight from the camera and was shot in colour. Personally I'm not a fan of selective colouring but I can see how anybody might think some was done here. Only adjustment made was to knock a bit of the tilt off it.
Thanks to you all for your thoughts.

    Hi Tom,
Mary seems to be on a boat to me (1); the surroundings also seem to be water if statement 1 is assumed. The compostion is good. Thanks for sharing.

This is terrific - my first thought even before I saw who took it was "This has got to be Ireland"

I can imagine the hoards standing on the left just out of shot listening to the stories of Jesus as a young boy getting into so much mischief with his darned miracles.

Colours are spot on and the composition is well "a miracle"

Nice shot Tom. I composition and tones are well done. I also like the contrasts of the dirtyish/rough/grey/brown surroundings to the clean smooth yellow/blue body of Mary. I also like how her head is against the pure white skies. There is a bit of a tilt but I'm not sure if correcting that will alter her pose.
