    Dates, Names, & Copyrights

I've noticed that several people are using coprights, dates, and names on their photos when they post on this site. I often find it very distracting, and it really affects the viewing of the image. I've especially noticed this on some of the airplane shots where the text is very close to the subject. Is it just me?

Also, I've looked into copyrights for some projects I've worked on, and it's rather time consuming and expensive. Is there a quick and affordable way to copyright?

Send them huge index sheets of photos, on both sides. THat way you copyright all the work printed on those pages.

A copyright symbol on an image does a little more to protect you in case of theft than no copyright at all.

If you find it distracting, try to ignore it. Peopl here will post however they want. For the most part, it's not too bad, although I find it hilarious when a snapshot is posted with a huge watermark through it, you know, to keep you from stealing other people's cat pictures to put in your own album...

It's a good habit to get into, sometimes an image that you wouldn't expect to be sellable shows up on someone's commercial website. In that case it helps to have as much protection as possible.

How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.

You should probably repost this question on either the ViewFinder or Help Files message board. This forum is pretty strictly for posting photos you want critiqued. Most of the forums here are pretty loose, but this one I want to keep pretty tight.

It is a good subject, though. If you repost it, I'll be happy to answer. And mtbbrian or I can move it for you, if you'd like.

    Thanks!

    Good topic, but...

But as John stated, this is a critique forum.
You will get better answers in the Viewfinder.
Seb, will probably answer you again there too...
