I see what your going for, but to me it looks very cheesy with the color added.
ALso, I'm not sure if you added the vignette or if you had too small a lens hood on? This also takes away from the photo.
I actually like the photo, I'm just not that big on the effects. This is a great scene to capture but you should have stuck with just B&W or maybe sepia.

    Cheers.

I like it like it is -- I remember the first time I saw some of these buggies in Amish Country in Penn. and I was struck by the contrast of the the "antique style" with the "non-antique" occupants. I think I see where you're going with this one and it's a good start.

Aaron and PT, I'm glad that you both seem to like this.
Aaron, I like this as it is too. just after posting though I wished I had burned in the foilage a bit.
PT, (I hope you don't mind the abbreveation), Cheesy! CHEESY? @#$$##@!!!
OK, I think I was going after cheesy. This is my attempt to make something out of nothing, or at least not very much. This was taken from a car window traveling at speed. Not good technically, but still I like it.
Posting here and editing images are like a therapy to me. Editing images like this has really been a good exercise that has increased my ps skill quite a bit in the last 8 months.
Thank you both very much for your replies,
    Mark

The vignetting works for me with this photo. I'd just convert the whole to black and white. It is not cheesy, it 'stylized'.

The kids clothes look pretty typical for an Old Order Mennonite (Amish) child of that age. Some sects do stick to all black, but they are pretty rare anymore.

The only other suggestion for improvement I might offer is to try a little selective sharpening of the buggy to differentiate it from the trees.

Thanks drg, Styized. I like that. I'll certainly give youre suggestions a try. Thanks for your positive input on the vignetting.

    Hi Mark...
I like this also, and most of your editing works for me, with the exception of the color on black & white. If you ever get a chance to snap a shot like this again...it would be awesome if you could capture the people riding in obviously current clothing styles...then try it in sepia with the vignette.
I do like what you've caught here, especially if it was a quick grab out of the car window. It's a very nostalgic-type picture and reminds me of a Christmas card in a way.
