Part Colourising

Hi All,

just learn the idea from Tuna and Seb and wanna know your valuable comments.

The photo with a statue is overexposed and I turn it to black and white and colourize the centre to see how it works.

For the photo od the door I was attracted by its colour and testure. To make it stand out I again turn it to black and white except the door itself.

pls kindly let me know your thought.

What you have done here works well. The first image is strange and spooky and for that reason I like it very much.

The idea is good. The first shot would be good, but the blown out statue bothersome somewhat. i like the second shot of the door. the color on b&w is effective here and does get the door to stand out.

I like both of them very much. Obviously, the statue in the first one is quite overexposed and details are lost but it gives a mystical feel to the scene. I like how the stone walls come out too.

I think that I would prefer the door picture if you haven't shot it at angle but I still enjoy it. The colors are quite remarkable here. The red is very impactful withouth beeing too flashy.

I don't know if you have a lot of post processing experience or not but these are well crafted. I'd be happy to see more of them in the future.

Thanks Seb, Tom, and Gary for your supports and comments. Yeah the statue one is a mistake of inexperience as I was fooled by the meter given the lighting conditions, and the door one would be greatly improved if it a more careful consideration will be given to composition. So I thought colourising part of the photo may help to improve it. I have done certain degree of retouching for the statue photo, but for the door one the retouching is minimal.

Both are very nice. What's interesting is that, in either photo, I wouldn't necessarily catch the fact that there was partial colorization.

I especially like the door - full of character. Not sure if the part colorization helped it appear even more that way or not - nice find and shot.

The statue in the first can easily be burned in or corrected through selective levels correction.
