    Overkill?
Did I slow the shutter too much?
Is the subject well enough separated form the crowd?
Does this effect work for you?

Paul I think it works real well especially in the first shot. There seems to be a very perplexed lady in the background, with hand on mouth, which adds a great deal to the shot.

Paul - The effect definitely works IMHO... I really like how it seems to create two layers - subject and everyone else. I like the 2nd one the best, seems more in focus and he's smiling. What did this guy win?

Paul, these work really well. I like both but feel the first is more to my liking because of the frenzy of photogs snapping away. there is a chaotic feel to it that the slow shutter emphasizes so well.
    Great work here. . .

    Everyone, thanks for the feedback.

I rather liked the people to the right in #2, the ones chimping their shots of Jenson.
And the little boy up on dad's shoulders chimping the shot instead of just taking more.

The angle and speed of his walk made the second shot sharper, but the first one shows the chaos of the public scrum as Jenson walked along the barrier after the interview.

I finally worked out how to deal with the glass tabletop they use for the signing session.
In the past I've had terrible reflections off it, leaving bright patterns on the background.
This year I used a 10" portable softbox on the front of the flash, and it softened up the shadows as well as eliminating the sharp reflections off the glass.
