Over Poure

I shot this on my back deck with one studio 400ws head off to the left.
I was hoping I could get some creative criticism so I could do a better job next time.

maybe try a different angle

I am looking at the water drops and I suppose you used a flash if so try to get a different angle when shooting so you prevent the too bright side on the right of your picture where the flash reflects too much

I still like the picture a lot, I am a fan of making such pictures myself. Good Work!!

This was shot with a Novatron 400 watt sec. studio head with a softbox.
not a flash, what angle would you recommend?

The soft box was in the 9 o'clock position.

The stem isn't clearly defined, you probably need to use another head with barn doors, snoot, or grid to put light just on the stem to make it show up better.
Or maybe even put light into the base of the glass form below (it's a very nice shape btw) and hope it reflects up into the stem.

It's a good idea. Maybe needs just a bit more DOF. I find the stem hard to find also, partly because it's such a non-traditional glass. So like Wombat said, something is needed to make the stem more prominent. I am also bothered by the base being cut off, I think that may also be making it hard to find the stem.

Great idea and shot. I'd agree a bit more light from underneath would work wonders. Might be good to also try and catch the shot before you have the water running down the stem itself, i.e. just the overflow from the rim of the glass itself? Well done. S

I can't thank all of you enough for your critiquing, I am planing to re shoot this and I will spend more time with the lighting, This shot was just on a whim but it had better potential.
